Intel has cut a deal with Hollywood in its Sandy Bridge chips to put digital restrictions management (DRM) in them. Intel's sellout to the big media companies makes it 'safer' for Hollywood studios to offer premium movies to consumers on locked-down personal computers. No doubt the media content cartels and Intel are dreaming monopolistic visions of extracting big rents to stream everything online.

Opa, brijem da ću preskočiti Intel nove generacije ako je ovo istinito. Do sada sam kupovao miješano, nemam preferenci, uvijek bih uzimao ono što daje najbolje performanse uz pristojnu cijenu.

Intel's new Sandy Bridge processors have a new feature that the chip giant is calling Anti-Theft 3.0. The processor can be disabled even if the computer has no Internet connection or isn't even turned on, over a 3G network. With Intel anti-theft technology built into Sandy Bridge, David Allen, director of distribution sales at Intel North America, told ITBusiness that users have the option to set up their processor so that if their computer is lost or stolen, it can be shut down remotely.

Ne znam za vas, no sve manje mi se sviđa taj novi procesor. DRM ugrađen u proc, sad još i killswitch.
