I can't be the only one who thinks that, compared to TC1, TC2 was just a lazy cash grab. Only thing that improved was; The ability to create your own wraps, cars sounded like the actual cars, and car graphics looked better. Overall, I feel like that's the only part they put effort into. The open world is boring and empty, the races and culture surrounding them are cringey and mediocre at best, with the whole "Bro Dude" attitude permiating the entire game.

The driving, at best, is tolerable, the AI traffic is abysmal. I can't tell you how many times I've had a box truck spawn literally right in front of me while going over 230mph.

The world itself, actually looks worse than the first game, with the only noticable improvements being the water, and on occasion, the clouds.

The map size I feel could've been upscaled, adding room for longer stretches of road and highway, as well as fitting in more cities and larger portions of states.

Overall, I played TC1 for at least 2 years total, and frankly always enjoyed it. I finished TC2 after about 2 weeks of combined gameplay, after that. I played probably another 2 weeks before the game's lacking and overall drab atmosphere pulled me away.

In conclusion, I feel like TC2 is just a lazy, half baked rehash of the first, without the engaging story and overall "good-lookiness" of the first. In beta, I thought TC2 looked better than TC1. My opinion has changed, drastically.
